Artist Liz Scantlebury, grew up and lives in South Manchester. She is a painter (although she uses that term to also include pastel, felt-tip, photography and collage)

Although her creative career has been split as a Community artist and a Solo artist, she has continued to paint and draw for nearly 20 years since graduating at Chelsea College of Art and Design with a Ba Hons in Fine Art (Painting) in 1996.

Liz’s visual interests are varied however she says that “Nature is the source of my intrigue. I love the generous host of Nature in its variations in colour, pattern, texture light and air. I love the magic in nature when ‘there is just something about that scene’ …Some mood, something un-pin-point able, but intrinsic….

I enjoy playing with ‘emphasis’ or ‘heightening’ certain colour schemes, certain patterns or harmonies in Nature.

I enjoy how Nature can invite the imagination to run riot-and I enjoy responding to the invitation with a drawing or painting.”

The Magic Garden (future work)

The next adventure with Liz’s art will be a composite of various elements of her previous work and interests. “I’d like to combine the speed and look of the landscapes (slow generally) with the quick ‘sketchy’ colourful aspects of the ‘floral’ and ‘magical’ pieces.”
